Qu extranjeros no pueden ajustar su estatus El ajuste de estatus significa que un extranjero que se encuentra ya en Estados Unidos puede adquirir la tarjeta de residencia -tambià ©n conocida como green card- sin necesidad de salir del paà s. En este artà culo se explica quà © personas extranjeras no pueden ajustar su estatus y, finalmente, cules son las consecuencias de ello (que pueden ser muy malas). Pero no a todos los extranjeros se les permite beneficiarse del ajuste de estatus Quià ©nes no pueden beneficiarse del ajuste de estatus En primer lugar, los extranjeros que ingresaron en estados unidos con una visa de tripulacià ³n o trabajador de cruceros C1/D. En segundo lugar, los migrantes que entraron al paà s sin pasar por el control de Inmigracià ³n y, por lo tanto, sin haber sido admitidos o parole. En estos casos la opcià ³n es esperar hasta que el cà ³nyuge residente se convierta en ciudadano por naturalizacià ³n o, en el caso de que la estadà a ilegal sea menor a los 180 dà as, salir del paà s e iniciar un proceso consular de peticià ³n de familiar. La espera podr ser larga. En quinto lugar, los titulares de una visa de intercambio J-1 o J-2.Cuando se les acaba las visas, estas personas deben salir de Estados Unidos por un periodo de dos aà ±os, a menos que se les conceda un perdà ³n o excepcià ³n conocida como waiver. En sexto lugar, los extranjeros que llegaron a Estados Unidos sin visado por pertenecer a un paà s acogido al Programa de Excencià ³n de Visas. Estas personas pueden estar en el paà s un mximo de 90 dà as y no pueden ni extender su estadà a ni solicitar una visa. Deben necesariamente salir. However, the theory itself is also one of the most commonly misunderstood principles (Suranovic 2003). Suranovic lists that one of its sources of "misunderstandings" derives from its property of being counter-intuitive, that is, many results from its formal model are contrary to simple logic. Secondly, the theory is easy to be confused with another concept regarding advantageous trade, known in trade theory as the theory of absolute advantage. This confusion between these two concepts leads many people to believe that they have understood comparative advantage in full when in reality, it is absolute advantage that they understand. Finally, the theory of comparative advantage is all too often presented only in its mathematical form. The use of numerical examples or diagrammatic representations is extremely useful in illustrating the basic results and the deeper implications of the theory. However, it is also easy to see the results mathematically, without ever understanding the basic intuition of the theory (Suranovic 2003). The theory on comparative advantage was first described by Robert Torrens in 1815 in an essay on the corn trade where he concluded that it was to England's benefit to exchange various goods with Poland in return for corn, even though it might be possible to produce that corn more cheaply in England than Poland. However, the theory is attributed to David Ricardo, who explained it in greater detail in his 1817 book The Principles of Political Economy and Taxation and explained the concept on foreign trade in an example involving the same two countries. The theory has been developed in the context of Ricardo's labour theory of value. The following table shows Ricardo's 1817 example of foreign trade production functions on cloth and wine for England and Portugal in one year's time: Output/Country Wine Cloth England 120 100 Portugal 80 90 According to Ricardo, if England is circumstanced that in order to produce the cloth may require the labour of 100 men in a year and if this country attempted to make wine, the labour of 120 men will be needed at the same time. The History Of Why Bother? The Temperatures are rising, carbon emissions are increasing, ice caps are melting at a faster rate than most scientists expected and planet earth is experiencing ecological and environmental issues due to global warming. Earth as we know it might change drastically in the next couple of decades and it is our responsibility to preserve the environment and preserve earth. Michael Pollans Why Bother opens the readers eyes in a powerful manor to global warming and related environmental issues. Pollan uses rhetorical strategies such as current and past events, logos and pathos to persuade the reader to bother(218) and start thinking of the environment as an issue that involves all of the people. Pollan approaches the reader from different standing points as he addresses each counter argument and gives the reasons of why people should bother. Pollan argues that despite the fact that our plant is at risk because of carbon emissions, we(the people) have not done anything to stop it. It is this passive attitude, Pollan argues, that prevents us from helping our planet. Michael Pollen quotes Wendell Berry saying that the deep standing problem behind all the other problems of industrial civilization is specialization(87). It is this specialization that causes people to play only one role in society and that they cannot expand to other field which they are not familiar with. In other words, people do not waste their time on environmental issues because they do not believe that it is their job to do so. The author urges the reader to liberate from the cheap-energy mind (120) and for once try to make a difference in the world. Pollan suggests that the best way of being green is to plant a garden. Although Pollan suggests many other ways of being green in his article such as purchasing a hybrid car, walking to work, or even changin g your light bulbs to candescent type like Al Gore suggested in An Inconvenient Truth, none of these ideas will reduce [peoples] sense of dependence (182) or reduce carbon footprint as much as a garden would! Pollan hopes that a persons decision of being green would influence another person which in turn would create a huge chain reaction. Pollan effectively uses examples of current and past events throughout the article to show the reader how big the problem is. He uses Al Gores An Inconvenient Truth which is a familiar documentary to most readers to support his argument and to give the reader a hint about what his article is going to be about. Pollan makes a connection with the reader when he describes his own feeling about the documentary when saying Al Gore scared the hell out of me, constructing an utterly convincing case that the very survival of life on earth as we know it is threatened by climate change.(4) Pollan also references the analysis of Wendell Berry, a Kentucky farmer and writer, to support his argument of the peoples dependency for solutions on specialists. He points to the people who fund and support environmental organizations while polluting the environment in their everyday life. Pollan notes that the people will not change and think about the environment unless they overcome the double personali ties in their believes and behaviors. All this comes down to the moral prospective of each person and his inner consciousness to identify clearly what is wrong around him with regard to the impact on the environment. Pollan uses logos in a powerful manor to convince the reader of adopting a green life-style. He tries to influence the reader by presenting the scientists projections about global warming that seemed dire a decade ago to have been unduly optimistic.(48) as the melting of the ice caps are occurring at a faster rate than expected. Pollan effectively uses a set of words to describe the boost of the rate of change to the melting down of the ice caps such as terrifying, threatening and scary to influence the reader and think more seriously about global warming. Pollan then ends with a question to keep the reader thinking about global warming, he says have you looked into the eyes of a climate scientist recently? They look really scared.(53) Another strategy which Pollan excels is the use of pathos to convey his point and to reinforce and strengthen his argument. Pollan engages with the reader in a set of counter arguments of why not to bother throughout his article. He presents many questions that are common and familiar to the reader such as the evil twin(15) that lives halfway around the world and is eager to replace every last pound of CO2 [a person] is struggling no longer to emit.(18) This way, Pollan makes a connection between the reader and himself in a manner that ties the reader to his analytical thoughts. Pollan addresses each question throughout his article until he reaches to a conclusion of why to bother.(218) Pollan states that thinking about the environment and at least planting a garden have sweeter reasons(218) than just benefiting the environment. These reasons consist of healing the split between what you think and what you do(219) and re-engaging with neighbors. These reasons might influence other pe ople to follow the same path in dealing with environment and create a chain reaction that grows to outside of ones community. Counselor Interview Essay
Mrs. T C***** currently is a guidance counselor at YPre-K center in _____. She has overseen the YPRE -K counseling program for about 10 years, which is designed to be compressive and developmental, with an emphasis on positive behavior and support. Mrs. C is a trained professional certified by the state of Texas. She received a Masterââ¬â¢s degree in Education with a minor in Guidance Counseling from Sul Ross University. From a young age Mrs. C knew she had the gift of what it would take to be a counselor. In High School she always provided family and friends with a listening ear and loved helping people solve their problems. Being a previous Pre-k teacher, she was challenged with young children that needed help with their emotions. Seeing those problems, Mrs. C had the desired to help those children in need, but realized that she didnââ¬â¢t have those specific skills to address the problems. From that moment she went on to increase her knowledge and understanding of the counseling field. To maintain her credentials, Mrs. Ceniceros must complete 200 hours every 5 years by attending certain conferences every year and local trainings. As a professional she is continually looking for ways to improve to provide that successfully curriculum for her students. The Ysleta Pre-k counseling program serves around 300 students ages 4-6, which Includes large groups, small groups and individual counseling, along with consultations with staff, parents and the community. As a guidance counselor she is excited and happy to be a part of the early education counseling program at Ysleta. Her goal is to continue providing the help, support and a positive environment. She wants to help students develop health perceptions of themselves; believe in competence, and their learning abilities. Mrs. Ceniceros role is an important part, she sees herself as a leader. Along with the principal and assistant principal they work towards a foundation of positive learning and teaching them how to adapt to a variety of environments by recognizing the needs coming from all diverse backgrounds. Mrs. Ceniceros mentioned that she is very blessed to have a supportive administrative system, where she is able to have aà well-rounded guidance program. Itââ¬â¢s an expectati on, school wide program where everyone: teachers, coaches, nurses, volunteers, bus drives ensure a safe, respectful and responsible environment. Itââ¬â¢s very rewarding to her how she is not secluded; she is part of school, they all work to together. Her program includes activities to enhance the studentsââ¬â¢ academic progress by addressing conflict issues that may have risen from their home life, work on interpersonal relationships, or if they lack of basic necessities: both physical and emotional, communication skills, study skills, listening skills and most importantly to develop social skills. She allows provides guidance in topics such as kindness, respect, responsibility, honesty, friendship, cooperation/teamwork, and manners. The early childhood guidance counseling program also consults parents and teachers to develop strategies in growth, development and learning. For parents itââ¬â¢s to make sure they understand what kind of environment is needed to help their child succeed and which intervention tactics to use. Her counseling theory she closely follows is Alfred Adler. She agrees on the theory of personality which is defined as, ââ¬Å"A comprehensive in depth analysis on how people function. It emphasizes the importance of early life experiences within the family of origin, or family constellation. From the perspectives such as birth order, sibling, rivalry, and social interest played important fools in the formulation and function of personality.â⬠(Nystul. Pg 173 ) She agreed on how Adler stressed that emotions are useful in helping person toward a goal. In her counseling program she uses some of Alders techniques Such as phase one: establishing a relationship. Mrs. Ceniceros uses listening skills along with a smile to promote trust and respect, with the power of laughter and humor she believes that it follows step 2 in winning respect and offering hope. The third step in phase 1 she allows provides encouragement to her young students again by helping them develop positive attitudes about themselves and the world around them. She mentioned that she loves to use Art therapy which ââ¬Å"offers a form of sublimation whereby clients can achieve indirect gratification of unconscious needs.â⬠(Nstyul, pg. 204). She has her kids color code their feels by filling a white heart outlined in black to identify their feelingsà such as blue is for sadness. For them is easier for the kids to communicate comfortably, has helped her tremendously to engage them to express their feelings and thoughts. Another therapy she uses is Play therapy, which involves play media such as sand play, art, music, and music to learn skills and work out problems. ââ¬Å"Play represents an important developmental tool for children and adolescents, natural form of communication, and expression creativity leading to learning, coping, and self-realization.â⬠(Nstyul . pg 297). Mrs. C guidance lessons reflect the needs of the children identified by the teachers, principal, assistant principal, parents and the children themselves. She typically reaches 20 or so students per week in individual counseling. Her typical work hours are from 6 am to 4 pm, every day is a busy day, Meeting with special educators, parents, teachers, attending conferences and trainings behind the scenes. Even when and if the families or child need her during a crisis after hours, Mrs. C is there to support them. ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s exciting, not knowing what the day will bring, every day is a different day, love the challenges.â⬠Mrs. C says. She loves working with children especially since she has previous experience as a teacher. Mrs. Ceniceros mentioned that it comes easy to her on how to speak to them and how to engage them in her activities. ââ¬Å"Definitely a fun age!â⬠she says. Her heart will always be with early childhood. That being said Mrs. Ceniceros believes that in order to be a counselor the key quality is to have the Heart! Counselors should be passionate, enjoy helping people. Need to have compassion and empathy to understand the problems and work with children that are in stressful situations. In her eyes counselors are always willing and looking ways to help .They need to be able to intervene appropriately when there is a crisis at hand. She says kids donââ¬â¢t always say what they mean or feel, most of the time they canââ¬â¢t understand their feelings or sometimes put up a front, as a counselor you have to look beyond words. Counselors need observational skills to spot signals of emotional, sexual abuse, certain behaviors, and relationships and being able to determine data from test or interviews. Have people skills and communication skills are also important she says. Mrs. Ceniceros isà constantly in collaboration with the principal, assistant, teachers and parents, along with that come having good listening skills, open mind, speaking and writing professionally. Lastly she says that having humor and a smile is an important attribute, which brings hope, trust, and allows the student to engage. Even though she has a supportive team and District who want their kids to succeed, she said itââ¬â¢s a sad surprise to see some parents that really donââ¬â¢t care about the emotional, physical, developmental health of their kids. Although at the end of the day the advantage of her job is to see the success of her kids, For Mrs. C is knowing that she made a difference and was able to help those in need. She smiles when her kids come down the hall way saying ââ¬Å"Hi fri end, I am helping my feelings!â⬠Mrs. C stated that each child is different and beautiful in their own way and most importantly, they all need to be valued. As for future prospective counselors make sure youââ¬â¢re in the field because that is want will thrive that individual to help others. For Mrs. Ceniceros she believes if youââ¬â¢re passionate about your job you wonââ¬â¢t see if as a job. Especially those who want to become a guidance counselor she recommends those individuals to make themselves visible to schools, teachers, and other school professionals. Greet the students, attend related meetings, and attend certain school activities, will allow the individual to establish valuable relationships. She allows mentions to participate in counseling practicum or internship, taking the opportunity will allow that perspective to learn and grow and even speaking with other professional counselor experiences will be a great deal of help. Choosing Mrs. Ceniceros was a great choose and a great experience. I chose Mrs. Ceniceros because I had heard she was a great counselor at Ysleta pre-k being that I am from Ysleta pre-k myself. I noticed that Mrs. Ceniceros is not only an effective guidance counselor but a nice person. Arriving into her office began with a positive image feeling warm and welcome of brightness and having the cute drawings from her kids. Not only did she provide a qualified image such as clean and professional attire, she presented a smiling and enthusiastic personality. Listening to her education , background, interests to why pursing a counseling degree, to her program and approaches showed me that she really cares about theà developmental , behavioral, and wellness of Y Pre-K children. She has great communication skills, improve her competence, works hard, and most important has humor. Mrs. C displays a wholesome philosophy, by valuing the diverse background of her kids, willingness to listen and the patience seek and accepts advice, maintains a good physical, emotional health. Most importantly I could see how she was well equipped to assist her children live a happy and healthy life. Overall enjoyed this experience and grateful for the opportunity!

While Islamic banks have taken Islam to be the source of practicing the banking and have also taken the Islamic investment modes to guide it but complied with the legal provisions to face banking updates, according the European Journal of Sciences (Al-Rawashadah). In Islamic banking, it has been shown that the takaful market is currently concentrated in Malaysia and the Middle East. It has been on a rapid expansion and has been experiencing significant growth. There are currently more than 130 takaful companies in operation worldwide, of which nearly half are to be found in the Gulf nations of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The takaful growth rate in these countries is well ahead of the conventional insurance market in the region. Wit h regard to takaful, the market is expected to be worth $4 billion in the next few years at the present rate of expansion, compared with about $170 million today. Western institutions are taking note and seeking to enter this market, as it has proven to be safer and more stable than conventional banks were markets collapsed (Mohammed, Faiz Azimi). However, when looking to the future for development and strategy, it is also expected that Islamic financial institutions, including banks, may encounter difficulties and heavy losses reflected in a decline in market share and pressure on the levels of profitability, given the modest capabilities and capacities of some banks as compared with traditional financial institutions that have a significant comparative advantage, particularly in the banking services (Al-Mulla, 2002). In order for Islamic banks to benefit from the positive aspects of banking services trade liberalization agreements, they will need to plan for this by identifying features of the strategy (Al-Rawashadah). In addition, Islamic banks will have to keep pace with technology and any relevant advancement of technology in financial services. According to Al-Rawashadah, acirc;â⠬Ã
âThe quest to keep pace with technological development must be a key target for Islamic banks to be configured to compete locally and abroad, provided that this be done, according to a deliberate strategy and a clear vision and appropriate technologies for the economic realities of the Islamic banks.acirc;â⠬Ãâà New Aspects First, increase investment in technology so as to make a real breakthrough in Islamic banks use of modern technologies. Also, a strong focus on electronic banking services that Islamic banks find a competitive advantage in, such as Islamic banking services. And lastly, the preparation and training and development of human resources skills in dealing with the modern mechanisms in order to increase the prospects for growth and profitability of Islamic banks. (Al-Rawashadah) In some countries with a majority of Muslim population, such as Nigeria, Pakistan, Egypt and Bangladesh, the takaful market can be considered very much in the early and development stages. These are almost totally untapped markets, in which insurance penetration nears somewhere below 2% of GDP. There are estimates that the global takaful markets are growing at around 20 percent per year. The Next Steps Islamic financial institutions have been able to enter global markets successfully, with an estimated $700 billion in assets under management (Al-Salem). The size of Islamic financial dealings affects local markets in certain countries, such Malaysia, Bahrain, and Indonesia. However, its impact on global financial markets can still only be regarded as developing given its current small size (El Qorchi, 2005). In addition to meeting Islamic Code requirements and satisfying the needs of Moslem customers, the expansion of Islamic financial services to customers around the world has been helped by the growth in information technology and by the new legislation passed in many countries, both of which have made the movement of funds more flexible and created a window of opportunity for Islamic banks and financial institutions (Al Muzaini, 2005). Although few in number and slow to develop, there is strong demand for Islamic investment products. However, today, in some Muslim-dominated nations, there is a wide gap between the number of conventional or traditional institutions and the number of Islamic institutions, especially banks, operating in the various countries. Some of these latter traditional or conventional institutions are more than 200 years old, compared with the oldest Islamic institution in Kuwait, which as started only 30 years ago. An increase is expected in the number of relationships developed to establish new Islamic Banks, in the provision of licenses for Moslem-related insurance companies, and in the number of new geographic markets for Islamic banks and financial institutions, such as Malaysia (CIBAEI, 2006).
